#007 - Amazing Creatures You Never Heard Of!

I've been thinking about this post since last Sunday, when I chanced upon the Nat Geo channel. Started off with watch the sharks, on how humans experiment what triggers the attention of these Great Whites. They did their tests with props like urine, shiny objects, yellow items, noise etc. I was seriously in disbelief how these people are crazily brave. They dive into the deep seas, swim along with sharks, not knowing if these fierce creatures would harm them.

But then at the end of the show, I realized some true facts.  Every year millions of people go swimming and out of which, around 6 of them were killed from shark attacks. And each year, thousands of sharks were killed by people. Sad but true.

Some other (WEIRD) sea creatures which I got to know from this are Pistol Shrimp, Star Gazer and Electric Eel. You know how unique they are from the names that they have.

Pistol Shrimp

They look small and friendly, don't they? But mehhhh. THEY ARE NOT.

Facts:

Pistol Shrimp, is one of the loudest creatures in the World. The shrimp can be left-handed or right-handed and may feature the special claw on either arm of the body, but unlike regular shrimp claws and other crustaceans, it does not have pincers at the end of it. Instead the claw is designed rather like a pistol with two parts: a “hammer” part, that moves backward into a right-angled position, and the other half of the claw is in a fixed closed position. When it releases the hammer part of the claw it snaps perfectly into position and makes its tooth-shaped plunger move into a niche in the other half of the claw.

The shrimp uses this inherent talent for hunting prey, hence it’s called the pistol shrimp. While hunting, the little shrimp hides behind an obscured spot like a burrow and shoots its flashy bubbles at passing prey. The pressure of the snapping bubble is sufficient to stun a passing crab or even kill small fish. It then pulls the stunned catch into it’s burrow and feeds on it.

Next up, the Star Gazer. To be honest, this is one of the most disgusting fish that I have ever seen. They look horrible, and the way they hunt for their prey is terrible too. But I am still very amazed by their swiftness.

So brace up for this ugly-looking fish...

I find them uber disgusting coz they look almost humanly from this view. Don't you agree? >.<
The 2nd pic totally shows how I saw them on TV. First, they will find a good spot for preying. Then they will sweep themselves beneath the bed of sand, leaving just their eyes and their BIG MOUTH uncovered. After which, they would just wait for some innocent poor fishes to swim by and they will gulp them down. But I must say, it is a very smart way of disguise.

Last but not least, the Electric Eel.

Will not mention too much on this creature coz I'm gonna show you a video of how this electric eel killed an alligator which is a few times its own size! I'm pretty sure you'll be as shocked as I was last Sunday!

#006 - Happy Birthday Huiping!

Happy birthday hon!! This post came late coz it has been a really busy week!  But anyway, here it is, a dedicated (but not very long) post for you! HEE =)

To Huiping Yeo, my dearest girlfriend since school days!

How time flies, it has been 11 years since we first stepped into the same classroom. Sad that it's no longer countable with two hands. :'( But so so glad that our friendship is still growing strong.

It has been a wonderful decade with you as we started from being classmates, to friends, to pen pals and now close girlfriends. Thank you for always bringing joy to the people around you with your frank words. Not sure if the guys find joy, but definitely much laughter for the girls! Thank you for being a great listener and advisor too. I feel alot of love from you!! <3 I feel that I have alot to say, but I can't seem to pen it down properly tonight. Zzz.

Anyway, just know that I love you very much and I wish for the best for you in everything (although I feel that you have the best of everything already)!

So here's the pictures from our mini brunch celebration. We shall meet again ok? Coz I feel that the brunch was too short!

Some random pictures of us while waiting for the rest to reach. And I realised I look uber sleepy with swollen eyes! Zzz.

#005 - Group Therapy Cafe/ Le Chocolate Cafe

Heyo! It's Friday once again! Happy coz weekend is here quick! =D

Friday is a good day for dating coz you can slowly enjoy your evening with a nice dinner and complete  it with a sweet dessert and when you look at the time you will still go, "Wow, it's still so early!" And so, that's exactly what I did.

My date for tonight is Daphne! Uh-huh! A new face showing up on my really new blog. =) My once-upon supervisor, an ex-colleague and now a great friend cum gossip-mate. =x

Sorry for the blurry pic! Guess my hands were shaky coz I was hungry!

Dinner was at Group Therapy Cafe, a place she recommended (or rather her friend recommended) located at 49 Duxton Road - somewhere around Tanjong Pagar. Food was not bad, environment was okay - not as cosy as we thought it was though.

Hunter's Roast Chicken with Tomato & White Wine Broth Served with Mediterranean Rice and Salad

Chili Crab Pie Served with Chips and Salad - Add-on Scrambled egg

Not a very good food reviewer, so to sum it up in one-liner: Crab is better than Chicken.

Left the cafe and headed off to another - Le Chocolate Cafe. My second visit in this month.

Desserts time.

Rainbow Cake with Chocolate Sauce (Pssst, it tasted much better than the first time when I tried)

Hazelnut Chocolate Cake (This is really good! Love the crunchy bite of the biscuit layer!)

Throughout the few hours of eating, we talked non-stop too. Too many things to talk about. From recent updates, to past happenings and then to our favorite pastime - GOSSIP. HEHE.

Mehhh. Too many things, too little time. Let's meet again some time soon. I will date you out the next time round! =)

So till then, here's a picture of us tonight!

Just a note, ShopLobello's latest collection Mix & Match is now launched! Do check it out! =)

#004 - Dinner Catch-Up with @sabbyoj and @sherkuku

A last minute plan to meet up with Sabby and Sher last Friday, for a simple dinner. It was a short session, but I'm glad we took time out for this! It feels good to meet these girls once in awhile,  just to yak abit (although most of the time I'm not the one yakking =x). HAHA.

It is just nice to have people around you who wishes to be updated on your lives, and wishes for you to be part of theirs too. Such people are so precious, and I am grateful to have more than a handful of you guys around me. Not sure am I lucky or what, but most of the people around me are truly awesome. Always coming true from their hearts (Or at least that is how I feel).

Alright! Back to the dinner post. We went to Din Tai Feng for dinner! It was great coz I LOVE CHINESE FOOD.

Looks like alot of food for 3 ladies? But nope, we wiped out ALL. Hehe. Probably coz too hungry. Well, at least I was starving. Not sure about the other two.

Went for some coffee-talk @ The Coffee Bean. Topics after topics. I think we have endless things to say.

Sidenote: You guys gotta try the Ice-blended Chocolate Banana! It tastes soooooo good. But these 2 don't know how to appreciate. SIGHS. Good stuff leh.

And of course, we also did what girls do best. Gonna flood you with loads of photos now!

Okays! That is all I have for you today. Time for bed! Goodnights!

#003 - New Hair Color!

Starting the post with a big picture of my new hair color!

I can't remember the actual name of this color which I did, but it's purple with a tint of red in it! Something like the color of red wine. So...how do I look in it? Personally, I thought I look not bad! Wahaha. Love it especially when I am out under the sun! Hee!

And so, as mentioned in my first post, I planned to head to JB to dye my hair. Why? Coz obviously it's cheaper. And I have done it once before. Results and services were good, so why not?

So Serene and I left for JB at about 10+am and reached slightly before 12pm. Went for K Lunch at Neway @ City Square and boy, we were awed by the services and food for the price that we were paying.

Their K Lunch starts from 10am and last walk-in at 1pm. Haven't gone for a karaoke session in awhile and we were famished when we reached at 12pm. So, that's a really perfect choice.

Forgot to take a picture of the food options they provided, but I do have pictures of what we ordered!

Sambal Prawns and Mushrooms served with Egg and Rice (RM21++)

Pan-Fried Fish with Thousand Island Sauce Served with Fries, Coleslaw and Garden Salad (RM24++)

They serve really generous portions of the food, and most importantly, the food were really yummy! Oh, and they even provided free wifi services so not to worry if you have no roaming services, you will still be able to use Whatsapp, Facebook and Instagram when you're in there! How awesome! =D

And so for 3 hours, we ate, sang and of course camwhored in the cosy room!

So, after some fun, it's time for serious matter now. Checked out a few hair salons and we finally decided on FOX Hair Academy.

Some last pictures of our unkempt hair.

And in progress...

Finally, we are done!!

It was almost time for dinner, so we headed to Sakae Sushi coz we had sashimi cravings!! We had Mentaiko Prawn Nigiri (6 pcs), Dragon Roll, Salmon Sashimi (10 slices), Spicy Salmon Gunkan (2 pcs) and a Fried Squid for sharing. Special compliments to the Sakae staff coz they offered to change their avocado to mango for the Dragon Roll when we were still contemplating on whether to order it.

And while waiting for food...

So that marks the end of our JB trip! Shall end the post with another pic of me in my new red lipstick! I'm in love with the color!
